I went for a 1.5 hour snowshoe in Birds Hill Park today. It was a great day to be out in nature.

I went snowshoeing down on the river yesterday for a change of scenery.
Other than going through the ice with one of my snowshoes it was a nice shoe.
After shoeing about 2 miles I came upon this old car and house.
Pretty interesting I thought how it looks like the people just vanished, leaving the car and the house falling into ruins.
Saw this guy while I was out snowshoeing around home today.
We went for a week holiday in Los Cabos Mexico. It was beautiful, and the temperatures were perfect! The resort we stayed at was on the Pacific Ocean and the currents and undertow’s were much too strong to swim in the water. No matter, it was still beautiful!
I lugged my tripod and D300 with the 18-200 lens along with me. I went wanting to take pictures of the surf but didn’t want to take my good camera along for fear of something happening to it. D300 takes decent pictures anyway and the 18-200 is a great travel lens.
About 1.5 miles down the beach from our resort there was a rocky outcropping. I wanted to take sunset pictures there to add some foreground elements to the shots. I didn’t really like any of the sunset but I did like this one of the waves crashing on the shore. I set the camera on the tripod and slowed the shutter to 1/8 sec.
We got up early one morning to go out on a whale photo safari. By early I mean 8 a.m. It was well worth it because the light was perfect and we saw alot of whales!
I loved the rainbow coming from these ones as they blew.
They were so close you felt you could almost reach out and touch them. Those in the front of the boat probably could have.
I had the 18-200 lens zoomed to 100. That’s how close these guys were! In fact I didn’t get all of this guys tail in because I didn’t zoom out fast enough.
This is a shot of the famous Land End Arch on the tip of Cabo.
And a pelican racing us back to the marina.
The other day my daughter wanted to have some pictures taken with her and her horse. She has been with this horse for most of the horse’s life. The mare will be 18 years old this year.
This is a shot of us out on the Lake with the tent set up and ready to go. The boys spent most of the time outside the tent fishing by the fire but us girls stayed inside where it was warm.
Over the holidays we went ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg. We set up the ice fishing tent and spent the day inside it trying to catch fish. We had nibbles but not takers.
This is a shot of some trees just north of our place that are rather none descript most of the time, but this time I thought looked quite neat.
One of my daughter’s no longer lives at home but she came home for 3 weeks over the holidays. It was wonderful having my snowshoe partner back for what seemed much too short a time.
